Epson consistently is rated as the best photographic inkjet printer by most independent reviewers. These two printers are companion models where the R800 handles up to 8-1/2" by 11" paper and the R1800 up to A3 roughly 13" X 17". Both printers also handle roll stock and will print directly on CDROMs. These printers share the same 8 ink cartridges which at $13.95 each represent a considerable inventory investment, however I now only have one set of supplies. Currently no secondary market inks are available for this printer, but there is virtually no waste as there is when the printer employs a single color cartridge.

Both printers produce remarkable images on a broad variety of papers. They have been very reliable and I rarely experience paper mis-feeds as I often did my previous Epson printer. These printers are also about 3 - 4 times faster than my previous printer. A typical 8" x 10", best photo quality print takes just under 4 minutes.

The Windows print drivers for these printers is a vast improvement over my previous printer. I can print the same images simultaneously on both printers and get the same results. Ghosting, strange artifacts, and sometimes wildly wrong colors are a thing of the past and these babies are amazingly quiet.
